Let’s Explore with Malani Rose & Company!

Dr. Brown begins by diving into one of the short chapters in the “It’s Almost Time for Middle School” book. Students are encouraged to talk through the parts of the chapter that were most eye-opening, exciting, and/or surprising. This session also explores the five career pathways in the book and further discusses the post-secondary schooling requirements for each.

Career Chatter and Value Sort

Aligning values—what is important—to life’s work is essential to finding meaning and work satisfaction. Research reminds us that value mismatch is a major cause of career dissatisfaction.  This value sort activity and conversation are designed to help students begin to think about how their values align with various career pathways.

How did you Write this Book?!

Oftentimes, children are curious about the process of writing a book. Dr. Brown will share a little about her creative process and love for learning and growing as a writer and scholar.  This short motivational moment is designed to inspire students to be the best version of themselves and to be intentional about their future success.

Q & A Session

Students learn a lot by developing and asking questions.  Questioning the author is a strategy that engages students actively with a text and reinforces communication skills. Through forming their questions, students learn more about the text and the author. Student leaders should be prepared to engage with the author by preparing a few class questions. This will round out our fun time together!

Cultured for College’s Malani Rose & Company is pleased to announce it’s partnership with MetaMetrics® to include Lexile® Reading Level Measures, helping millions of children build a love of reading and stronger literacy skills. Our partnership empowers educators and families to select appropriately leveled books for young readers.

The Lexile metric’s leveling system helps teachers and families find books that are at an appropriate reading level for their children. An estimated 35 million children in the U.S., including more than half of all elementary students, receive Lexile measures from national, state, and local tests.

The integration of the Lexile framework into the Malani Rose & Company Book series makes this adventurous text an even more powerful resource and strives to partner with millions of families and teachers who desire to encourage career thinking while increasing the literacy level of our youth.
